Organic Yakushima Green Tea, Yutaka Midori
Organic Yakushima Green Tea, Yutaka Midori
80g
Single-origin tea made from the "Yutakamidori" variety. Yutakamidori typically has a strong umami flavor along with bitterness, but the bitterness of Yutakamidori grown in Yakushima is milder, with even a hint of sweetness. It has a clean taste with no peculiarities, making it a tea that can be enjoyed daily without growing tiresome. It is, in fact, the tea that the tea farmers themselves drink. Bringing out such deliciousness in tea using only organic fertilizers is nothing short of a miracle of Yakushima.
This tea is grown on Yakushima, a remote island in southern Kyushu. Known for its heavy rainfall, with the saying "it rains 35 days a month," Yakushima is actually ideal for cultivating tea leaves. Tea plants develop bitterness and astringency the more they are exposed to sunlight, so in sunny areas, shading is used to adjust the amount of sunlight. The rapidly changing weather of Yakushima prevents the tea leaves from receiving too much intense sunlight, and the frequent mist and rain also prevent the leaves from drying out.
Always use soft water and brew it with water cooled to around 80 degrees Celsius (176 degrees Fahrenheit).
